We sponsored our friend Emily Hinshelwood who almost completed a swim across the channel for the spinal injuries charity “Aspire” last week. The map shows how far she got – a fantastic achievement. Below is  the note from her – if you would like to donate to the charity please contact us and we can arrange to pass it on to Emilycharity

“To all my lovely sponsors,

The bad news is we didn’t make it all the way to France. So gutting. It all started well, the sun shining, the sea calm, and all the team in high spirits… But after about half way the conditions began to change. Really choppy, huge swell, the boat was like a bucking bronco and swimming was like being tossed around in a washing machine. In the end, the pilot felt it was too dangerous to continue, it was dark and the crew couldn’t see the swimmer due to the height of the swell, and after 12.5 hours we turned back (so close to Calais!). I’ve attached a picture of the wiggly track we took (due to tides).

Although I haven’t got that lovely celebratory feel of having completed the channel, thankfully the full Team Clownfish arrived back in Dover safely. I’ve had my warm shower, had a few days out of the water and am contemplating my webbed feet. What now?

The good news is that, with your help, I’ve raised over £3,500 for Aspire. So thank YOU. And thank you to those that kept me going with texts and positive messages while I was on the boat. And special thanks to Russ who coached me for months; and to Rache, my inspiration.

love Emxxxx”
