An introduction to Silk painting with Jenny Mynett

A practical introduction to the fascinating technique of silk painting. A subtle flow effect can be achieved when the paint is applied to the silk fabric, or unique textures created with the addition of salt sprinkled onto the painted surface.  It’s similar to watercolour painting but less controlled.

We will start by experimenting with the paints and the fabric to see how the colours blend and learn how to contain them within defined gupta outlines. This will help when we move onto painting a prepared image to create a greetings card. There will be a choice of images on offer, which can be completed and then later mounted into a card base.  All materials will be provided.

The workshop is suitable for both adults and children. The painting technique involves a certain degree of control and patience so it is recommended for those 8+. The image here was painted by an 11 year old.
