Creative Weaving with Sarah Holloway
Saturday 15th August, 10am – 1pm. Cost £35.00 including materials
A morning of making your own woven wall hanging.
You will learn the basics of weaving on a simple table-top wooden frame loom, using a bodkin needle to weave with. You will be able to build up colour, tone and texture to create your handmade weaving. You will be shown plain weave, as well as other weaving stiches. There will be a selection of driftwood sticks for you to choose from to hang your creative weaving on.
All materials and equipment will be provided, including coloured yarn, some of it from local Welsh sheep, as well as mixed media including interesting threads, recycled fabrics, ribbons, wools tops, raffia, beads and buttons. You are welcome to bring any of your own favourite wool, threads etc. that you’d like to add to your weaving. This workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as those with some experience who want to experiment further. There will be plenty of visual resources to help inspire you and you will be given an information sheet with some historical context and weaving terminology, as well as links to weaving resources.
Children age 13 and over are welcome. Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Space for up to 10 participants.
